Dear equest users,

In recent past i did some analysis regarding the perforated, i mean the
amount of shading in front of the building envelope and it's effect on the
energy consumption.

The outcome can be the finding regarding the amount of percentages of WWR
on the various facades and also i have really done the analysis on a
project in India so the case can be considered regarding the northern
hemisphere.

For this purpose a model in India has been taken and it's various facades
has been modeled as per the design.

The amount of perforation (the varying percentage of blinds) chosen has
been:

a. 90%age
b. 70 %age
c. 50 %age
d. 30%age

The model is like this.

Now for the building facade amount of perforation, blinds has been taken.
It is in the wizard mode and also the percentage of the building glazing
has been varied with the amount in percentage of blinds.

The energy consumption has been like this:

Findings are like as follows:

1. Maximum amount of glazing can be given on South-West facade in Northern
hemisphere.But with least amount of glazing it will have least energy
consumption. This is the best performing facade as far as WWR reduction is
considered.

2. Then at second place the maximum amount of glazing can be given on
North-East facade. Also with least amount of glazing it will have second
best performance of the building in Northern hemisphere.

3. Followed by North west and South east facades which are more adamant
with the WWR changes as the changes in the WWR has least effect on energy
consumption changes.


Also from India's GRIHA guideline:

1. In northern hemisphere solar insolation is maximum in southern facade in
winter season and least during summer season. So southern rooms can be
naturally heated during winter.

2. Also,North facade has the least percentage of solar insolation during
winter and less during summer in Northern hemisphere.Naturally ventilated
spaces will have very cold spaces during winter in these spaces.

3. Additionally, South-East and South-West facades have average and very
good amount of solar insolation during summer and winter.

4. Lastly, North-east and North West facades have handy and average amount
of solar insolation during summer season.

Solar Insolation is the solar radiation in the horizontal ground surface in
terms of heat per unit area.

Mostly the globe is located in Northern hemisphere. South-America and
continents like Southern part of Africa and also Australia are in Southern
hemisphere.These Southern hemisphere parts have winter during July to
August the vice verse of Northern hemisphere (like summer in Australia
during January).Hence varying solar insolation on facades for different
orientations for both the hemispheres.
