In addition to this, you can create a load management to control when
the boilers will be used for heating instead of the geothermal loop.
This works well if you know the capacity of the geothermal loop.

You can go to the circulation loop attached to the GHEX and create an
artificial boiler load under the "Process/DHW Loads" tab. You'll have
to account for your fuel consumption separately but you'll at least be
able to see how the artificial boiler loads impact the ground loop
temperature.
My two cents: I'd place the boiler upstream of the heat pumps and
wouldn't try to warm the ground above its' undisturbed temperature.

I'm trying to simulate the energy consequences of adding a boiler to the
ground loop for a cold climate, but eQuest does not allow this
application. Are there any ideas on how to fake it?
We're effectively trying to warm the ground because the average
undisturbed ground temperature is so low.
