[Bldg-sim] LS-D vs SS-D vs SV-A reports in equest

Just to reinforce – the “L” reports are the heat gains and/or losses going into the zones.

The “S” reports include the effects of the air system delivering the heating and cooling needed, which could include outside air conditioning, return air coming in from one or more zones, and will be the coil load. These are the HVAC capacities.

The “L” and the “S” reports would not normally be identical.

Hello Hamza:

John's right, check the DOE-2 Reference Manuals, Part 2, which has a complete explanation between LS-D, SS-D and SV-A...as there's a big difference in the values being reported (LA-7890-M, LBL-8706 Rev.1). There is also useful information in the DOE-2 Basics manual.

In general, anything to do with LOADS is the simulation run at a constant indoor temperature, as well as other oddities that DOE-2 had in LOADS. So, SS-D would be coming from SYSTEMS, where the actual space temperature was determined by weighting factors, and the load change accordingly. This would include thermostat setbacks, etc.

The SV-A report is not really a simulation result, but rather a verification of what you put into the simulation since much of what's in a DOE-2 input file is "hidden" in the defaults, only to be seen in the LV, SV, PV outputs.

To complicate things, EQUEST has slightly different outputs than does DOE2.1e, but follows it pretty closely.

Hope this helps. If you can't get your hands on the manuals let me know. I should be able to put a copy on the TAMU google drive for you.

Jeff

Try checking in Volume 4 Libraries and Reports of the online DOE-2 help menu within the program. It would be the absolute best source. John R Aulbach, PE On Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 09: 26: 34 AM PDT, Hamza Sohail via Bldg-sim <bldg-sim@ lists. onebuilding. org>

hi, can some one explain me difference between LS-D(building monthly load summary) and SS-D(building hvac load summary and SV-A(system design parameters) reports in eQuest as i am confused because in each report it shows different "Maximum Cooling Load kBTU/hr" value.
