Entry level and senior positions available:
Mechanical Engineer/Energy Analyst- Chicago
 
*         Buro Happold is a world class multi-disciplinary engineering
consultancy, renowned for cutting edge design solutions that encourage
the efficient use of materials, energy and natural resources. Our fully
integrated approach combines structural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and
fire protection engineering skills with an in-depth knowledge of
infrastructure design and environmental best practice. 

This position includes the production of coordinated detailed design
drawings, electronic models, specifications, written reports, site
surveys, schedules etc. on a variety of projects within the mechanical
discipline. It would also be beneficial to have experience using REVIT
and other computational analysis tools such as energy simulation, heat
gain/heat loss, and pipe sizing tools. 

Job Purpose: 
To provide a technical/design engineering service to the
MEP/Environmental Group on projects, as directed by the Associate/Job
Leader. The candidate must be a self starter and to be able to work
independent of a large office environment. 

Key Requirements and Responsibilities 
*Work with a variety of energy analysis software appropriate to the
specific project, including eQuest, EnergyPlus, and IES VE 
*Perform spreadsheet-based calculations of potential energy savings
opportunities for projects at the planning stages and for policy
development 
*Conduct building energy simulations and models in support of LEED
projects, including new construction and existing buildings 
*Assist project teams with the interpretation of and compliance with
ASHRAE Standard 90.1 energy standards 
*Take on detailed engineering design tasks
*Prepare technical schedules/specifications  
*Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work 
*Work closely with and monitor performance of junior staff 
*Under guidance of senior staff, represent BH at meetings with the
client, other professionals and suppliers. 
*Ensure service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines
and budget. 
*Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design
decisions such that the objectives of the company and the client are
achieved. 
*Coordinate work with other members of the project team
*Continually ensure practices, policies, strategy and services represent
the client's and Buro Happold's best interests and that BH policy is in
keeping with current codes
*Must be fluent in written and spoken English 
 
 
Qualifications:
 
*         Master's degree related to Building Science and/or Mechanical
Engineering
*         Energy Modeling Software experience (eg: DOE-2, eQuest,
EnergyPlus, IES VE, TRNSYS)
*	Working knowledge of ASHRAE standard 90.1 and related energy
standards and modeling mythologies
 
Qualifications (a plus):
 
*	Professional Engineer Illinois
*	LEED AP 
*	High-performance Building Design Professional Certified from
ASHRAE
*	Building Energy Modelling Professional (BEMP)
*	Certified Energy Managers (CEM)
*	Building Automation Controls Experience
*	Commissioning and retro commissioning experience
