Off the top of my head:

A dipsomancer who's already had one liver transplant is looking at
liver failure, again. He's hoping to use his last (sig? major?) charge
to create a artifact that will allow him to practice magic without
actually having to drink (have fun with those DTs). By wearing his
special beer goggles he can gain charges over time, the same as if he
was drinking. Yes, even significant charges.
