I think this may give the creatively stifled Pornomancers too much credit. I don't think they 'chose' Videotape anymore than they 'choose' to create something new with their power. They act by rote, doing today what they did yesterday and the day before that, bound to a tradition that may or may not be the only way to do things. But few of them would try to be innovative, and surely Daphne would not brook innovation. It's not what she's created.
Even as VHS dies an ignominious death, that tape still circulates, but less and less people can see the message. 

I contest that the reason that there aren't any 3rd generation digitized versions is twofold. Most people that the are chosen to join simply aren't creative enough, and no one else has had time/the will/ the idea. The Sleepers are pretty secure in the fact that the tape is one of those things you don't _want_ to share. Even in our digital culture, sometime you have that little clip that you are loathe to give to other people, simply because you want to have the only one.

Also Digital media does not force sequential viewing. Digital media starts, stops, and skips to where you want it to. There is no time to build up that connection to the universe without watching the whole thing, not sure the ascension, not just popping around to the smut parts.

However, stating all the reasons why there is no Digital Edition of the Ascensions does not mean I think it would be less powerful if viewed the same way, not in the slightest. Out there is nascent Pr0nomancer, sitting on a digital bundle of God, just waiting to make the Sleepers, and Daphne, shit bricks. The Revolution will be televised. I think it would be an insanely fun campaign to run.

  Daphne's descision to spread the Goddess' message by videotape perhaps indicates that the form of the tape has special signifigance. That all second and later generation copies of the tape work because they're echoes of the true master tape.

  It's possible a Naked Goddess DVD or .mpeg simply wouldn't have the spiritual impact the real deal has. Something you can brush off as good special effects.

  Which is pretty fortunate for the Goddess cult, since The Sleepers would be dropping bricks if some twit could post even a third generation version to YouTube or sketchyuploadsite.com.

    And then think about what would happen if even a grainy copy of the Naked Goddess tape was digitized and posted online.
