Regarding weird psychic powers, you could always have the player utilize a variation on Walken's powers in "The Dead Zone," which, I think, revolve around seeing possible futures of people that he touches. Sorry. I've not read the book, seen the film, or watched the TV show. The SNL sketch from back in the day seemed to explain the gist, however.

Some other psychic sensitive abilities might also include remote viewing through other individuals' eyes (live or from the recent past) - a staple of any number of supernatural / psychic thriller films and TV shows. I'm thinking "Millenium" and "Profiler," in part.

How about psychic communication with animals? White Wolf's Second Sight sourcebook has some good advice on such a power and I'd imagine that you could make it especially creepy by allowing animals to exhibit kinship with the character and help her out while simultaneously relaying the inhuman thought processes of the primal mind.

I'd also recommend googling for a thread on rpg.net that I think Greg Stolze contributed to that had some fun ideas about using psychics in UA - there were some fun thoughts about what might happen with BOHICAs and failed percentile rolls. I seem to recall things like bloody noses and accidental uses of powers towards objects / people of the character's obsession.

Digging this line of conversation. As fun as adepts and avatars can be, I personally like to see what other madness GMs and players are bringing to the table. The system's adaptive enough and the canon game world open enough to allow plenty of exploration.
