It is never called witchcraft by the authorities but
only by the wild mob. Every so often someone here has
a story in a paper about zombies or flying woman or
witches being stoned to death alongside the regular
and mundane atrocities. Just last night a newsd story
said a sangoma told the police where to look for a
missing constables body. There was a mixed reaction to
the methods behind investigation-by-divination.
Local religious/mystical/cultural practices are called
Traditional Medicine or Healing... or homeopathy. In
South Africa the government has given a fair degree of
legitimacy to the varied traditional healers.
