There's a great French (or is it Belgian ?) comic called Arcanes
Majeurs. It's set in the early 60s, it's quite UA-like and it features
Howard Hughes in a prominent position.
It's all about the Players. I've heard they rule upon Las Vegas, unless
it is Las Vegas that feeds upon them. I've heard they hide in Cuba, in
Vietnam, and just about anywhere chaotic enough to hide their presence.
I've heard that they worship luck and probabilities and card games. I've
heard they fight for antique Tarot decks. I've heard the Tarot dictates
their behaviour and gives them luck when they need it. I've also heard
that they can siphon luck, sell it for money, or buy it from winners.
Howard Hughes ? They say he's in hiding. They say he's the King in
Yellow. They say he's a player, the biggest of them all. They say he's
using a unique 1919 Thule Gesellschaft deck, featuring a King known as
Hitler. They say he lost himself in the cards and never got out. They
say something about ascending, losing humanity, renunciating. They say
something about a mummy.
They also say things about the the Four True Arcanes, of which all Tarot
decks are but shadows. And sure enough, some people would kill for
these.
But what do they know ?
Cheers,
Yoric
