Where's the abominable Dr. Keil when you need him?

I actually don't think it's 100% necessary that the doctor try and persuade him that it didn't happen. Depends on his therapeutic modality, I reckon. Whatever that is.

But seriously, there are some psychologists who spend most of the session just silently listening. I'm sure there are some who consider it inadvisable to directly contradict their patients' delusions, but who rather try to get them to (1) decide for themselves whether it's real or false and (2) to accept and find a way to coexist with the experience -- whether the episode was objectively real or just a stand-in for some suppressed experience.

A psychiatrist, on the other hand, might just pill the guy up. (In a compassionate and educated fashion, of course.)

"Had any more experiences with people scarring words in yo' belly?"
"Well, no, but..."
"Good! The meds must be working!"
"God bless GlaxoSmithKline."

"I'm a combination therapist and analyst. My patients call me an 'analrapist.'"
-From... aw crap, that one Fox show, can't remember the title but it had that dude from "TeenWolf2" in it.
