Perhaps it's an elaborate divination technique, and the dressing choice is
part of that . . . so it's not that she *can* choose the dressing, it's that
she must, and each choice has a particular significance.

Or maybe the divination is feces-based, and were she to consume any sort of
dressing other than vinaigrette or thousand island, it would throw off her
chemical balance in such a way as to make the results unreliable.
