Chris, I think the thing about adepts is that they have gone insane
and rebuilt themselves so that they can use magick.  Being able to
function as normal is not a priority in the rebuilding.  I agree that
this does not automatically mean they can't function as normal, but it
does mean that many of them are weird.  Add the fact that moving
against or denying your Obsession and Passions leads to Self-checks
gets you to the crazy place for adepts.  Even if they are otherwise
normal they are deeply, emotionally committed to disturbing behavior
that takes priority over normal activity.
