Internet as well; on Seattle TV station KIRO's Web page, Amber Alert is the first link on the left.
The upshot is that the authorities and media don't generally mess around in these situations. There is no waiting period to report a missing child, and the authorities respond immediately, under the wise rule of "better safe than sorry." The FBI will become involved, even if there is no evidence of interstate travel.
I initially wondered if the authorities would hold off an Amber Alert in Washington until they had talked to Jason; that's unlikely. While Jason may not be mentioned in the Alert, the call will go out.
Which gives Jason a chance to get his story straight before he gets a visit.
