[UA] A new avatar, or a new flavor?

"The Sycophant" sounds a little more archetypal.

While we all know of brown-noses, I'm having a hard time thinking of
significant literary, historical, or celebrity examples--in part because
sycophants are insignificant almost by definition.  That may indicate that
it isn't an avatar at all, but merely a personality trait.  Or it may simply
prove my ignorance.  Can anyone come up with a sizeable list?
