[UA] Mess with this character, a lot

One thing to keep in mind is the ability to channel archetypes
unconsciously. There is any number of low-level avatars running around out
there who don't realize what they're doing. The PC doesn't necessarily need
to know what avatars are. Archetypes are a sort of expected-result system of
the universe. Unlike adepts, who enforce their own wills and obsessions on
the universe to do something outside normality, avatars work *with* the
universe, reinforcing the core concepts that humanity has developed.
Therefore, anyone who enacts those patterns has some chance of tapping into
the archetype.
In my game, we're playing at Street level, but most of the players want to
move up to Global. None of the players have read anything past the Street
level section of the book and are still very much in the dark about things.
I plan to start introducing possible magickal paths and let them do things
the hard way for a bit. I've been keeping an eye on the characters, and I've
made a list of possible archetypes and school for each. What's great about
archetypes is that I can give them a starting score in something and they
can try to develop it. If it doesn't work out, either because of lack of
interest or taboo, they can potentially develop another. Schools are all or
nothing. After the climax of "Drink to That," I plan to jump things ahead a
year or so and let them make their little bad asses the way they want.

Okay, I gotcha now. So basically what you're saying
is that I should tell him no for the time being, and
that if he wants to play an avatar we can explore that
through actual play (with the assumption that he can
deliberately pursue one once his character learns
about avatars if he hasn't stumbled on to one by
then).
