[UA] Mechanomancy question

Just a quick question about mechanomancy - hence the
title.

When a mechanomancer abandons his memories to build
things - what is left? 

If he chooses to forget 'His first kiss' does he still
remember that he had a first kiss, that it was by the
river with a girl called joanie, but none of the
details - the sound of the river, the smell of her
hair, the emotional storm in his belly.

Or does he just have a blank afternoon - an area of
missing time, like the unrememberable drunken night
out?

I know being UA there's no 'right' answer, but I'd
like to know which one people use and the results...
