Well the characters could be part of an high-profile
affiliate law firm - they're all the investigating
agents.

They are called to search out happenings related to
cases the law firm is busy with.

All the characters are all ex-clients that are so far
in debt to the law firm, working it off is the only
way of keeping what they have left (otherwise it's
debtor's court and shirts off backs).

The law firm is a collection of partners, some of them
may possess extra knowledge of the OU.

Some of the PCs may start off as avatars; adepts are a
little more troublesome. Careerwise they could be
licensed private investigators, professional
bodyguards, paralegals, experienced drivers, forensic
pathologists, engineers, highly-trained criminals and
a host of other disparate occupations all forced to
live and work together.

D&D-esque party with a wealthy patron. Because they
are actually working for the Law, if they get caught
doing something vaguely illegal, they could get off
with a stern warning. They will be allowed to perform
arrests as agents of the law.

How's that?

Good luck.

Cheers,

Chris.
