Give the muscian some Tim Powers-esque "ghost eating" schtick, using a 
unique (or semi-unique) Soul skill to charge him for it.  The skill would 
let him sniff out objects, exact corners and people who have a shred of the 
artist's essence left.  When he find such a thing he snorts the artist's 
lingering essence and it adds to a Soul Skill ike "Sing like Elvis" or "Rap 
like Tupac", the penumbra of which would include the ability to think like 
the artist to some degree and maybe even remember events from their life 
relevant to the shreds he's snorted.  How much of the artist is left on 
something depends on its significance to the artist.  A costume worn once 
might have just enough to raise the skill 1%, their home would offer 
numerous nooks and crannies with up to 10% bursts lying around.  The soul of 
the artist itself, if located, could be engaged in a contest of Souls and if 
snorted would bring the skill to 99% and would increase Soul by a point or 
two.  Losing the contest would cut the individual off from the snorting 
power and condemn them to a slow bizarre death unless they figure out how to 
eject the stuck spirit.  Some combination of rolls shoud lead to an artist 
that's become a demon taking the body.

Basically a sort of proto-school.  If the character gets obsessed with it 
and starts to formalize rules or get adept weird about it then it can become 
a normal school.  Probably some sort of cliomancy/iconomancy hybrid.
