A few suggestions for the future:

1) Identify someone who can send out a reasonable number of pdfs in a 
period (ten is probably not enough for this sort of thing, as evidenced 
by the number of requests), and use that person to send them out.

2) Do not use the mailing list to make requests for the pdf - ask people 
to write to a private address rather than spamming the list. You could 
even have one person collect the requests and forward them on to a few 
people to do the mailing out, if you had to.

3) Work out where the pdf might be hosted *first*, and put it there. 
Only then announce that location and offer to send out the pdfs (with 
request to a private email address) to those who can't get it from the 
web site(s). It is never so important to get the material out 
immediately that you can't take the time to find a download home first.
