[UA] Fred Rogers: Mechanomancer

There was a recent episode of Angel written by Ben Enlund (Creator of
the Tick) about an evil children's television show with puppets which,
while mostly being funny (Angel gets turned into a perpetually scowling
puppet) had a couple of *incredibly* disturbing scenes, which I won't
detail here (download the episode immediately - the show made me think
of the UA horror/pop culture mix th first time I saw it). Let it just
be said that much as he did with the original Tick comic, Ben mixes
comedy and horror and pathos really well. (Okay, granted - the Tick
was mostly comedy, but hardcore fans know the episodes I'm talking
about...)

Subject: [UA] Fred Rogers: Mechanomancer

So I got to thinking about the late Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
on
Public Broadcasting) in a UA sense. What if he was a mechanomancer and
all
the "puppets" in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe were his automatons?
Now
I've got ideas for an adventure or two where the characters (have to
have a
videomancer) are trapped in the Neighborhood of Make Believe: They catch
a
public train in some city one night, fall asleep on the train, and wake
up
being transported by Trolley to the Neighborhood of Make Believe. I can
just
imagine Lady Elaine after the group, she was always crazy as a loon.

Thoughts anyone?

Walter
