I think of it as blue-collar, agnostic fantasy.  Sure, there's RELIGION,
and lots of priests BELIEVE their funky powers come from their god, but
apostates who've learned the rites can do the same stuff no matter how much
they blaspheme, and the non-religious sorcerers can match the priest-types
trick for trick.  It's a highly political setting, and the premise is that
the PCs can start out as beggars, wind up as kings, and KEEP MEANINGFULLY
PLAYING as the rulers of nations.  Plus, no one ever saves the world.  No
one has the power to threaten the world.  It's just the world.
