I have an idea that I think should have some use, but I can't see it.

It is stolen from a cheap film I saw the other day called something like
"SOS Pacific". Anyway, the setup is a mismatched group of characters
taking a dodgy plan from an island country. In the film one pair was a
criminal being moved by the cop who caught him to where he was to stand
trial. One of the others was the snitch who ratted on the crim. There
was a harlot and a prissy english woman, and a german scientist/doktor.

The plane goes down (electrical fire -> wrong type of fire extinguisher
-> crim tries to bring plane down with help from wounded pilot) and all
swim to nearby island. They need to get help before provisions run out.
While looking around the snitch takes the only boat and the cop's gun
and flees the island, the bastard!

The rest of them find a bunker and inside a bunch of cameras and
equipment... Its set to record something... Like something exploding on
the tiny rock offshore with the tower on it... Just a moment, there are
supposed to be military tests in this area... Oh god, that's where they
are going to test an A-Bomb (or H-Bomb)!

Crim swims out and the snitch is there on the rock, tries to kill the
crim. The crim has moments to cut the power to the bomb that a radio
plane will fly over and trigger... He manages it.

Anyway. It played out like a roleplaying scenario. And I felt that the
characters and such really resonated with UA in some manner (although
now, describing it, it sounds more like Pitch Dark, the sci-fi film from
a few years back). But I can't quite see what sort of event the
characters would be facing that is like an A-Bomb, but not. I suppose it
could be set back at the appropriate time and could focus on the "we
have some powers, but have to be smart to escape this sort of danger"
aspect; the "power is not everything at all" part of UA...

Take care,

Liam
