My DVD player has a "resume on stop" feature. Stop the movie you're
watching and turn off the player; when you turn it back on, you can pick up
right where you left off by pressing play.
Handy when your significant other suggests you can either turn off the TV or
sleep on the couch.
So I turn the DVD player back on this morning while getting ready for work.
The timer reads 003330. I hit play, realizing I'd been watching Naked Lunch
when I hear "Do you know Herr Doctor Benway?" . Odd moment.
Then on the way to work my car almost stalls. For the first time since I've
owned it, the engine light comes on. It blinks three times, then everything
seems fine.

"I think computer viruses should count as life.
I think it says something about human nature
that the only form of life we have created so far
is purely destructive.
We've created life in our own image."
