I think they made a comic about that, once. It was a mini-series called
"Divine Designs" or something like that (I've only read it in
Portuguese), where all super-heroes lost their powers. Superman was the
first one to break down and turn into a worthless drunkard, having lost
his toys.
Bringing this back on topic... Superman gets mentioned all the time as
the "archetypical" super-hero, the kind of character who exemplifies
everything positive about the human race. So, by doing something to him,
you're symbolically doing something to all those ideals and concepts.
I wonder what an insane adept or avatar could get out of pulling
Superman out of a screen and then ritually sacrificing him.
