Oh god, scary recursion thing. A videomancer with his own show, that
summons to life himself, from the show. But if he were playing himself, ti
would be a more stylized, essential version of himself, like 'Seinfeld' as
opposed to Jerry Sienfeld.
Also I keep imaging the episode 'Normal Again' of Buffy.
Or what if mr. Videomancer had a thing for, say, Bill Cosby, and
summoned up a version of each character he's played on TV, how woul dthe I
Spy cosby react to the Fat Albert cosby? And would a cartoon remain a
cartoon, or would it change to fit the physics of this world and become
flesh? Would the videomancer have a say in that decision?
But the thing that I like the most about this, whether it's
Bibliomancers and characters from books, or Videomancers, or anyone else
with similar abilities... what if you had your players make up, say Mulder
and Scully (and of course depending on the size of your group you'd get Lone
Gunmen, or Agent Dogget or whatever)
How long would it take for them to realize they weren't real? How would they
react? With something like the X-Files it would be pretty quick considering
the FBI would laugh when they called. But the charaters of other shows might
not be so quick to realize, like Sliders, or any of the other myriad shows
were there is a certain amount of Robinson Crusoe theme.
Then there's pulling characters out of reality shows. They'd be
themselves, except caricatures of themselves.
Ah, so many weird ideas.
