This is not the story's fault, this is crap playing. I
have seen this work and not work: I've had it in a
game I ran, where the people just irritated everyone
with their over-the-top sexually explicit
interruptions.

Then again, this has worked brilliantly too, with the
right players.

Get your players in the right roles and it'll work.
