Years ago, I wrote an adventure for a local
convention. Personally because I was sick and tired of
the same con-adventure over-and-over-again (you know -
kill the [insert humanoid chieftain, rescue the NPC].
It was one of those difficult adventures to put down
in the right way. I used Over The Edge for the engine.
Out of twenty tables, two GMs ran it, and they
volunteered out of support for me - and boy oh boy did
those motherfucking players whine and whine and whine
about how they didn't like the system and the game and
this and that and the other for the whole two fucking
hours.
(Although I did feel sorry for the one group - their
GM was a spitter).
The two GMs really liked the module (and apparently
still run their tattered con-copies for people who
haven't heard of it).
BTW: The module was chock full of squickiness.
So all in all my rambling is that sideline
experimental games - which I enjoy and would like to
see more off - is an abomination in the eyes of the
d20/D&D3 playing majority.
I have no problem with d20, the d20-ers have problems
with me.
Cheers,
Chris.
