The other option...

The sticker would be that Dirk Allen himself actually
reconstructed the novel from the ribbon (which he'd
hidden) to mentally reassemble what was made shreds of
conflicting memory.

Allen has three manuscript copies in the hands of
three well-paid lawyers (U.K., U.S.A, Australia), to
be sent to publishers after his death. All resultant
profits are to be sent to various Liver Dialysis
Charities.

Just waiting for Allen to die, and then people can
read his masterstroke and critically comment: "This
isnt good. It's all too intellectual and abstract. I
preferred his earlier work. Once he become famous, he
sold out."

Then after a rush #1 on the bestseller lists, the book
disappears into a well of disjointed mediocrity.

All those Sleeper cliomancers with their Gnostic
Gossip.

Cheers,

Chris.
