[UA] The Compte Conspiracy

	So, throughout history, the adversary, the first and last man,
the one who pushes for change has had many different masks, many
different Modus operandi... but why? It's always been assumed the compte
is just mutable, but the more I look at it I don't think that is the
case at all. 
	Rather "The Compte" is a conspiracy of silence and misdirection.

	The Compte is nothing more than an avatar channel, and of course
the best know of the Comptes, the one with his fingers is the most pies,
is the Godwalker, just marking time until the time he can engineer the
right circumstances for his own ascension. 
the Compte is a nexus of a crisis. he is there at every major human
conflict, world wars, mass genocide... but why? Those are just the
outward symbols of the wars he himself fights, the challenges to his
status as Godwalker of the First and Last Man. 
	And sometime the conflict passes, with nary a change to the
world, the status quo is maintained... and sometimes... the conflict
changes everything forever, and a new Godwalker begins to direct the
symphony of the statosphere in his own image.
	The channels of the Avatar must include some kind of 'avatar
memory', that stretches back through all the different incarnations of
the Compte, but that's probably the highest channel, as that level of
knowledge _makes_ you indistinguishable form the Godwalker. Have there
ever been female comptes? i wouldn't hazard a guess. it could be a
gender specific role, or it could be that we don't think the compte is a
female because the current Godwalker is male... if perhaps a godwalker
female arose, the compte would have always been female. 
	He calls himself the 1st and last man, but I think this is a
misnomer. Yes the 1st man was was the first avatar of the compte, and
the last man that ascends will be the compte, and all comptes in between
supply memories but he's really an avatar of something else entirely,
perhaps the Adversary, Change embodied, God... who knows.
	And what if that was Dermott Arkanes true goal, or at least a
part of it. Not only does he wasnt to ascend as the Messanger, but also
supplant the 1st and Last man with Alex Able, who's goals now are to
change the world. Mak Attax also wants to change the world but they are
aren't focused enough into any one person... but that could change if
Regina ever takes over.
	And the Compte's actions in getting and manipulating the PC's.
Maybe with his godwalker omniscience, knows that he is about to fall,
and is preparing for it, that's why he gives them the scroll, and tells
them how to use it. Something they will eventually use against the 'new'
Compte, whoever that may be. That in their moment of victory, a
carefully planned counter-attack will push them back down, and allow the
current godwalker to rise again, and even ascend.
	No wonder he makes himself forget the PC's... don't want that
kind of information moving on to his successor... and how many other
plans has the Compte made against 'himself' through the ages, waiting
for the right triggers.

	His left hand may literally not know what his right hand is
doing. he is a violent storm made flesh, a plotter so skilled, that his
most complicated plots are against himself.

	Certainly a new way of looking at him.

I donno.  I kinda feel like there's not enough of an agenda to the room.
I can't quite imagine what an agent of the changing room would be like.
It also doesn't seem quite satisfactory enough.

How about this as a possibility:

some people leave deciding it isn't worth it (renunciation of desire)
and leave perfectly satisfied with their appearance).  Many of these
individuals become fat advocates, etc.

Some people reach the point they are satisfied with their appearance and
leave (renunciation of appearance) these people become personal
trainers, dieticians, and spokespeople for Subway sandwhiches.

Some people go through the grotesque change and pick up a new
appearance, and become agents of the room.  Every time they return,
there's another skin they can change to in the locker...
