Not necessarily- as an avatar of the Mystic Hermaphrodite, the Freak naturally possesses the ability to switch genders at will (the 71-90% channel ability , I think).  As the Godwalker, he can also, thanks to the 91-99% channel, gain a sig charge by switching genders.  However, the acis-drinking major charge theory makes sense.
