As Walter and Joe pointed out, there is some truth in the story. I would be
less ashamed if it were indeed some random restaurant that called for such a
policy, but of course it had to be our House of Representatives that asked
for this in their personal cafeteria. That is not to say that it is the law
of the land.

Still, it points up one of the major tenets of magick: that to have power
over a thing, you must know its true name, be it demon or adept. This could
be seen as a symbolic attempt to redefine the true name of common items,
presumably to grab power over them.

This leads unpleasant credence to Orwell's 1984, in which various elements
of vocabulary -- including the names of ill-favored bureaucrats -- were
redefined to make new and more (ritualistically?) controllable words.

When this many people are hungry for power, you better be
the one with the fork. The UNKNOWN ARMIES RPG is available now
from Atlas Games. http://www.atlas-games.com/
