It's one of the Russian words for "friend." Yes, it's the same word that
Huxley used in A Clockwork Orange. Another is preyatyel. Difficult to
phonetically spell it with the Latin alphabets.

It's funny that the word "Tonzhi" in Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese,
equivalent to "comrade,"is not used much these days except as derogatory
Cantonese Hong Kong slang for "homosexual."
