Most of the stuff I've ran has been set in America. It fits perfectly
there, true. 

But I'd also say that a big part of the american feel of UA comes from
pop culture references in the text and Greg and John style of writing,
rather than the specific elements of the setting. 

As for guns... I can't speak for other countries, but it seems that
getting a gun in Spain is relatively easy, provided you know where to
ask (hell, these days there are even criminal gangs from Eastern Europe
armed with full auto weapons)

Now if I could finally figure how to fit Picasso's "Guernica" in my next
UA one shot...
