2) Alex Able wants it, time to put the Naked Goddess on the Revolving Door Policy. After all his first test involved the keys to Heaven. Time for a second shot with a hefty artifact.
3) Saw, saw, grind, grind, paste, paste - Personamancer plaster of paris mask.

Alternately, keys can lock as well as unlock -- it could be an 
ascension-prevention machine.  Maybe someone thinks the final ascension 
is nigh, and isn't ready for the world to end just yet?

Or, maybe it locks up a room of renunciation?

Or, maybe some deluded person calls their seedy apartment "heaven", and 
locked himself out?
