Have you read any Wade Davis?  I strongly recomand you read "One River"
and "The Serpent and the Rainbow".  The first one is about his and Ewan
Schultz (his supervisor) trips in South America.  The second one is his
own trip in search of the Zombie powder.  Both are increadibly good
reads.
