Yeah, it's hard to find good info.  Dates vary considerably
from source to source, for instance.  If you haven't already,
you might want to check out:

It's not perfect, but it's probably the best of it's kind
on the net.  There's also an intriguing interview with
Arneson somewhere out there that gives an alternate view
of the early years of Dnd.
