You're right.  Jon did tell his story before (thank God for Google.) 
Somehow I was confusing his stay in a hospital with a friend's stay.  My
friend's stay had nothing to do with transplants though, he never would
have met her.  Just happened to confuse two stories, mostly because both
Jon's story and my friend's stories are (for lack of a better word)
touching.
