Talking about sincronicity....
I have gearead up a group of volunteers for my graduation project, wich
is about RPG and Semiotics. We gonna use Unknown Armies as the RPG the
volunteers will be playing. I will not be part, as GM or player. But the
two groups (one Saturday and another Sunday, both in the afternoons),
will have their debut with Jail Break and Strange Times, so I had to Run
this scenario before one (for each of their teams) of them become the GM
for the project.
Since we are all already togheter, plus a few more people (they called
to have a few drinks ina bar close by), the team of Sunday (Roberta,
Gone and Virginia), plus Ramona and Tariana (btw, I still have to right
the formula to ^how to get female humans beings into RPG games^). Well,
after the said few drinks and half a chicken (I haven´t dinner before),
we came back here and I run Jailbreak.
Well, I will not get this very long...
Uder, Jake, Steve, Ngwash and Morton ended up as players.
They love it. They freak out.
Specially with the violin girl.
Still, this scenario have a great deal of it over the players, and
Tariana as Ngwash didnt really got into the role. Same for Gone, wich
made Jake quite reactive instead of active, and mostly in useless
moments, where he was just beaten by GMCs and players alike.
Ramona played Uder very well, and got into the character without many
problems. She had a hell of good time, as she said in the end, and was
really shocked and loved the idea, when she discovered Ella was a
clockworker. She let Bors scape from the room (I usually let him inside
for the first hour, them he break the box/chest and starts to slam the
door) and just after he killed most of the cons or made they run like
the devil, she (uder), tried to control him.
The dog, as usual, got locked in the bathroom. I guess no one really
loves dog.
The laywer was the only GMC killed by a player. Roberta, as Steve,
usually tried to ignore her "uppity" reasoning, but in the end she
failed a stress check (bors coming and the laywer screaming just asked
for it) and blow her head of with a point blank shot.
Virginia was the one sort of lost, since was her first RPG session,
found it "weird" and a bit "confuse", but she handled her character
(Morton), better than Tariana or Gone, both had played before at least a
few times.
Thats my "After Action Report" of my fifth Jailbreak run. From the
session I have run, 3 of them was well liked (counting with this one),
and 2 realy hated (one in this case, was with people that would REALLY
preffer to play Vampire, so I can~t blame de One Shot scenario or
system).
The session has gone from 22:30 to 02:40, and I finish it since I was
really tired. The musics range from Danse Macabre to Beborn Beton and a
few tracks of Bella Morte. Lights was out, and I used candlelight, wich
I discover since my first vampire days (RPG...RPG...im not all that
nutcase), to be a great tool for inciting player imagination.
As curious note and related to the Tarot:
Tariana appears in The Chronicler
Roberta and Ramona are in The Lover
Roberta is also in The Peacemaker

Assunto: [UA] Just ran Jailbreak [SPOILERS]
So, I was meant to be playing in Escape From Inssmouth today, but our
Keeper didn't show up.
Luckily I had ONE SHOTS in my bag, as I was planning to show it to the
guys.
Sooo, I dished out the character sheets and we played JAILBREAK.
Things I did -
- dropped the female hostage. I just made it so they'd taken her van and
left her, rather than brought her along.
- totally forgot about the mechanical dog.
Things they did -
- letting out Bors was pretty much the first thing Uder did. That
surprised
me, but it added a nice "Alien" type air whenever anyone went upstairs.
Or
out of the room. Juan (a GMC) bought it almost instantly, as he'd
followed
Uder upstairs.
- when Ella found out she was a clockwork, she assumed Uder knew and
decided to kill him, as well as all those other nasty men in the house.
- Morton tried to slit the throat of the violin-playing girl. He then
freaked out when he saw the razor-sharpener and trashed the upstairs
bathroom.
- Updike let Spundie go and teamed up with him against the others.
However,
Icepick charmed them into letting him free.
- Icepick tried to have his way with Ella. She slapped him hard enough
to
put his jaw out of line.
- they didn't keep track of ammo. Steve ran out just as he was trying to
shoot Ella for the third time.
How it ended -
Jake Spundie died on the steps to the cellar. Having pushed him into a
sitting position, Ella pinned him to the step through his left thigh
with a
pickaxe, then twisted his neck till it snapped.
Uder bled to death - he'd been stabbed once by Morton, then hit with a
pickaxe (again by Morton, but later).
Bors escaped before Ella lured the PCs in to the cellar. He now roams
the
US, killing people.
Ella watched Uder die, then allowed herself to be disassembled by the
Rack. Steve, Morton and Icepick escaped in the van, only to be picked up
by the
cops on the highway.
In summary, JAILBREAK is brilliant. The scene where Morton found the
violin
girl was incredibly tense, the recurring shouting matches were great,
and
the three-way standoff in the kitchen between Morton (knife), Uder
(hatchet) and Icepick (stun gun) will be long remembered.
