I've just finished Expiration Date. Excellent! I also recommend all of Powers' books that you can find. I usually go to www.bookfinder.com or www.abebooks.com or www.alibris.com, though I'm not sure if any of those sites include listings from Germany.

I recently picked up Pasquale's Angel by Paul J. McAuley which is an alternate history about di Vinci being more of an engineer rather than artist. Includes necromancy and other themes of the fantastic. So far, reminds me of The Ascension of the Magdalene UA/d20 adventure.

Lots of folks who like Powers also like his friend James Blaylock's novels. I've not read any of his, so cannot speak for them. Perhaps someone on the list is familiar with his work.
