I've no idea of the 'official' answer to that question, but I know of
two people whom I consider compulsive liars.
One would lie all the time to make himself more interestring, and was
very bad at it. People just ingored him most of the time. He was also
a very bad tech support guy, and the rest of us hated working with him.
The other lies in an extreme-stretch-of-the-truth sort of way, and he
does it to make people like him. He gets into problems when he says
different things to different people who later talk to each other - he's
usually very consistant when talking to one person. Overall, he's not a
bad person - just rather unreliable.

On a related note, is there actually a disorder called Compulsive Lying
or the like that results in, well, compulsive lying? I don't mean any
offense to anyone that might suffer from it, I've just heard reports
that it exists and reports that it doesn't.
