Maybe.  Yarbro takes the historical count as the basis for her character, 
makes him into a vampire/alchemist, and chronicles his various adventures 
(and romances) throughout various periods of history.

The books just aren't my cup of tea, and I've only read the first one or 
two, but they weren't bad at all.  Their UA applicability is probably 
limited, though.
