See, I'm just in an all-out negative mood these days.
I keep thinking: how the hell would a relatively
non-violent archetype like "The Peacemaker" handle
this? I can't come up with a solution.
I suppose you could turn to things like "On a Pale
Horse" stuff from Piers Anthony, where each Avatar has
it's own way of replacing itself. UA already does
this, more or less.
It might be more interesting to look at a "Marvel
Extended Family" type of idea with Avatars. I refer,
of course, to Captain Marvel and his earstwhile
siblings from Foster Comics. There's an idea put
forward in the books where the Marvel Power is limited
and has to be "shared" by the Marvel Family.
Perhaps a UA variant would put limits on the total
power of "collective unconsciousness" that feeds the
Archetypes. Maybe only a certain number of Avatars
can exist, period and killing off other avatars
increases the CHANCE for others to increase in power.
Then again, seeing an Avatar of the Peacemaker stop a
fight between two other Avatars and raising his white
flag in the air screaming "MAYBE THERE OUGHT TO BE
ONLY ONE" while glass shatters in a three block radius
is something to hang onto.
