All I know are several nice fiction books:

Illuminatus? =) Trilogy by R.A.Wilson ... -> Rosicrucians.
Well not accurate at all I guess but fun to read.

Then there is this German 'trilogy' by Peter Berling
'Children of the Grail' it is fiction but nevertheless contains a lot of
stuff about the templars. But takes place in the middle ages? It has 
been translated.

I do not know wether the latter is in any way accurate ... but it is fun 
to read, and after all: the GM is master of the universe right?

About Germain .... well he appears several times in Diana Gabaldon's 
scotland saga: again no historical accuracy.
