That was a random example (probably a bad one, as I didn't
bother to find if any churches actually claimed that
particular relic) but my point was that there was a large
number of items which multiple chuches claimed to have the
one authentic version of.

This just strikes me as all the cooler.  So some medieval
con man sells off some pig bones to a local priest, and then
the thing actually manifests holy powers?  (If I
misunderstand the doctrine, please clarify, but that's what
it seems to say, what with the multiple bones, some of which
aren't the 'real' ones... and I've seen sources describing
bones of certain saints being verifiably inhuman)

Sweet.  I'd already figured on having (IMUAC) the CoNG run
by a cheap conwoman, who was then surprised by pornomancy
working.  Now it's gonna be a recurring theme.
