I should think that the very essence of Gardener (as opposed to tree-hugger)
is all about cultivating, transforming and harvesting plants. Therefore a
taboo preserving plants for their own sake or prohibiting the use of plants
for anything seems wrong to me. How about not being allowed to let plants go
to waste - which includes material made from plants, therefore a rope made
from hemp is to be preferred over synthetics; vegetables as food rather than
meat or dairy products; you get the idea.
