"The Aug. 1940 issue of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC detailed the disappearance of
30 children and their teachers in some catacombs below the island of Malta.
Sources contemporary to the event stated that they had entered a 'burial'
chamber in the third or lowest level of the 'Hypogeum of Hal Salflienti', an
orifice which was rumored to lead to 'deeper' catacombs."

A nice example of how to use a good name (National Geographic) and then go
on presenting a hodgepodge of wild speculations and rumours as if they were
taken directly from NG. The article in question doesn't do much more than
mention the disappearing school children. The network of catacombs itself
(the article claims one could have walked from one end to Malta to the other
underground before the entrances were sealed off) sounds very interesting
though.
