Dude, you don't have to. No one's making you. Just put down the knife...

Seriously though -- this is not such a major rules overhaul that 1ed
becomes obsolete or confusing. The only big rules changes are (1) we added
fuzzy logic skill checks and (2) we fixed initiative. I can explain both
in one email.

(1) Fuzzy Logic Checks.

In addition to the two levels in UA ("easy" and "deadly") there's a third
in the middle ("kinda hard"). We named the three levels "minor"
"significant" and "major," naturally enough. The end two you know how to
do. For significant, roll under your Stat for a very marginal success, or
under the skill for a good success.

(2) Initiative.

Initiative is now a skill. You can roll it as usual, or you can take your
skill as your roll. (This is almost always a good idea.) In case of a
tie, each person rolls a d10 and the loser has their initiative reduced by
1. Starting initiative is equal to half Speed and you can increase it
normally.

Now, there's a ton of other stuff in there -- new schools, new archetypes,
tweaks on old stuff and many, many suggested campaign frameworks -- but
that's more or less it for rules.

-G.

Well, there's some little changes to knife fighting, but that's about it.
