My conceptions for the keep them safe was allow them to collect
footage even with bullets flying. People may still be belligerent
and demand the camera be turned off and seek revenge for reports that
blow their secrets or more likely make them look bad. I think that
the players will naturally slip into the press delusion of
invincibility while behind the camera and I want to play to it for
some things like stray bullets or targets for rioters.
Mechanically it would mean that no truly random event can destroy
their equipment while it is on or impair them to the point they can
no longer continue filming. It also lets them use a version of the
Fool channel that deflects danger so that their equipment isn't
damaged. This only functions during filming. After that the
equipment and footage redirects damage to things around them (mainly
the characters) so it can survive until editing and distribution.
