It doesn't sound like a flop to me. Was the feel bad?

I described the game I recently ran as a flop because
the players spent most of the game with their heads on
their chests, muttering and not making eye contact
(which is actually pretty standard for my group, but
not during UA games. At least then they're trying to
screw eachother or one of the NPCs.)

Well, that's a Story, right there. Completing
assignments is only an optional bonus. Most really
good gritty stories (from which, it would seem, UA is
derived) end with the characters falling considerably
short of their goals.

After all, the game is designed to have players
transcend themselves, not solve the world's problems
(some of which are expressly insoluble.)

(Oh, wait, sorry, it was really pompous of me to say
that. I think I'll leave it anyway.)
