That would /really/ annoy me, to the degree of tempting me to say "Oh,
by the way, Bob didn't just say that.  In fact, Bob's character never
existed in the first place, and none of you have any memories that say
differently.  Bob, start working on a new character concept, and stop
reading the books."

I probably wouldn't submit to that temptation, but it would be present. 
Does this make /me/ a bad person?
